Summer Shipping - It's hot y'all!

*The quality and healing properties of our products are not affected by melting.*

At Nugget Oak Naturals we are dedicated to keeping our products 100% natural and free of harmful synthetics, fillers, preservatives, and stabilizers. As a result, our delicate natural products that are packed in glass jars are sensitive to significant temperature changes.

During very warm weather, these products may soften or even occasionally melt while in transit in warm shipping vehicles and hot mailboxes. Or on your sunbaked porch!

We do use protective packaging so most products will arrive safely and in their original condition. But unfortunately, melting is a natural reaction to heat and we have no control over conditions during transit and delivery. Or if you leave your products in your hot car during the summer months.

One of my biggest hurdles as a formulator for these natural products is the effect of outside temperatures. Many non-natural products contain phthalates and petroleum-based ingredients to stabilize and maintain thickness. These synthetic additives ensure that products maintain their consistency during temperature fluctuations. Our all natural products do NOT contain any of these harmful synthetic additives.

Our wellness creams/salves, body butters, and tallow products are formulated to be semi-soft solids at room temperature. This allows them to melt into our warm skin when applied, providing a nourishing and skin penetrating product.

Keep an eye on your shipping confirmation and attempt to be home to get your package off of your porch or out of the mailbox. If your order arrives on a hot or particularly sunny day, open upright and slowly to check for melting as they may spill and be messy. You may need to place salves/balms in the fridge and give it a stir as it begins to harden. They will then return to their original consistency.

The consistency of whipped butters may change to become more like a balm if melted. Whipping adds tiny air bubbles that lightens the density and changes the texture, making the butter light and fluffy. If a whipped product melts, the air bubbles collapse so the volume will decrease resulting in a jar that may not look as full. We have had customers scoop out the butter and re-whip it with an electric mixer and it will return to it's original fluffy consistency. Note that the butter has to be cold for this to work.

During warm months, we do our best to prevent melting in transit by checking every product before it is packed, wrapping delicate products in padding to add a layer of insulation, adding ice packs to orders containing salve and butters, and positioning every product in an upright position in the box (and praying and crossing our fingers that delivery companies keep these boxes upright!). As a result, most products arrive without any melting or only very minimal melting. Please understand and respect that we have no control over the high heat temperatures of summer, transit vehicles, and mailboxes or porches.

Thank you for your understanding and for agreeing to the shipping terms when completing your order!
